Missions

"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church.  Worship is.  Missions exist because worship doesn’t."
John Piper

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

Cedar Grove Missions responds out of love to Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations.  We do this through the deepening discipleship of every individual at Cedar Grove Church and the sending of those who have the Good News to the unreached who have never heard the gospel, both locally and globally, by establishing churches where He will be known, worshiped, and obeyed.

Active Missionaries

Bob Kirk

SIM Canada (Serving In Mission)

Bob was led to put his trust in Jesus by his mother at age 6. At age 10 he recommitted his life to Jesus through the ministry of evangelist Barry Moore. God called Bob into ministry and missions in mid-career through circumstances around his sister's passing from breast cancer, and the mentorship of retired SIM missionaries Ralph and Doris Jacobson. After five years on staff at a church in Burnaby, he joined SIM in 2016. Bob believes that the key to sharing the Gospel with effect is a focus on the uniqueness of the Person Jesus. His favorite books may be the Gospel of Luke and Hebrews. Bob's ministry is with recent or new Canadians.

Cecilia Huezo

Joshua and Joanna Bogunjoko

SIM (Serving In Mission)

Joshua and Joanna Bogunjoko were born in Nigeria. Joshua, from a church-going but syncretic home, came to know Christ in high school and, in his first year of medical school, committed his life to serving God in mission. Joanna who was born to a Muslim father and a church-going Mom, came to know Christ in medical school. They met and married in 1993. Joshua served as a Short-Term missionary with SIM at Galmi Hospital, Niger Republic in 1992. He and Joanna with their two children, Jochebed and Joel served with SIM at Galmi Hospital from 1995 for about 11 years before Joshua was appointed to the international leadership of SIM in 2006 as Deputy International Director for Europe and West Africa, and then International Director in 2013. Joshua handed over his role as International Director in February of 2024 while Joanna also concluded with her role in pastoral care of the SIM International staff at the same time. Joshua and Joanna went back to Niger Republic in 2024, serving with others among the predominantly Muslim people. Joshua also serves as the Global Director of Regions for the Lausanne Movement for World Evangelization. Jochebed and Joel live and work in South Carolina, USA. Their ministry verse is Psalm 67, particularly verses 1-2, “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us, that Your ways may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.”

Rachel Nono

Youth Unlimited - YFC Central Alberta

In 2024 my family (husband and 3 kids) moved to Sylvan Lake, AB. Shortly after, God called me to join Youth Unlimited and work at the youth center/indoor skatepark in our town. There is never a dull moment in ministry and it’s so cool to see what God is doing and watch Him move. We strive to provide a safe place for youth to come to, build relationships with them and have a meal. God has been so faithful to my family and it’s been so encouraging to work with the youth and show them God’s love.

Stan and Sandy Anonby

Brazil

We joined Wycliffe in 1997, and served as surveyors in Brazil for 10 years. Survey is the first step in Bible translation, where we find out which tribes will be prioritized for translation. We then worked in Malaysia for five years, doing similar work. After that, we worked in Indonesia for another five years. Presently we are involved in teaching in Wycliffe schools in Brazil and Peru, training future missionaries from Latin America. We also continue to do language survey work in various parts of the world.
